Dr.Jose G. Montoya is a globally recognized leader in infectious diseases with more than three decades of clinical, research, and teaching experience. Board certified in infectious diseases and a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America, Dr. Montoya has led groundbreaking efforts in diagnosing and managing complex infections, particularly in patients with compromised or abnormal immune systems. He founded Stanford University’s Infectious Diseases Immunocompromised Host Service and has authored over 200 scientific publications. TOXOPLASMOSIS
An internationally acclaimed authority on toxoplasmosis, Dr. Montoya directs the Dr. Jack S. Remington Laboratory for Specialty Diagnostics—the U.S. National Reference Laboratory for Toxoplasmosis. With over 20 years of intensive clinical and research training under the mentorship of Dr. Remington, Dr. Montoya has advanced the field’s understanding of toxoplasmosis across the lifespan, including in pregnancy, infancy, adolescence, and in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals. His pioneering work has set new standards for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of this complex parasitic disease, positioning him at the forefront of specialty care and innovation in the field.
